Sports @ Leisuretime

The Leisuretime Centre is a versatile venue accommodating a range of sports and programs.

We can accommodate players of all ages and abilities with various programs, competitions, and social activities available during each day and night of the week with the exception of Sunday when the venue is closed in preparation for the coming week.

Sports that we have spaces available for at the Leisuretime Centre include:


Badminton

The Leisuretime Centre is home to the purpose built Badminton Geelong Stadium, with six International standard courts, all with Taraflex matting over a wooden sprung floor. The Leisuretime Centre has the ability to offer another six badminton courts for larger group and casual bookings as well as major tournaments, functions and events.

If you want to get into the sport of badminton, seeking more of a challenge or have children that want to get involved, Badminton Geelong have many options available across a range of times and days.

Badminton Geelong offer a range of competitions for players of all ages and abilities as well as social programs during the day and weekends for those that can not commit to a full competition season.

Badminton Geelong offers the ability for groups and individuals, school groups and corporate events to hire courts at the venue during ‘peak’ and ‘off-peak’ periods (subject to court availability). Bookings are essential and should be made in advance, this can be done via the Badminton Geelong website by clicking on the ‘contact us’ tab and completing the required fields.

Basketball

The venue has four indoor basketball courts including the full-size Beggs Stadium courts with premium Ringleader Basketball systems and sprung hardwood timber floor.

Our courts are predominantly used for competition by Basketball Geelong as a key venue to support their operations at the Geelong Arena. The courts are also the home training courts for many local basketball teams including but not limited to the Dolphins and Vytis Basketball Clubs who also participate in Basketball Geelong competitions and programs. If you wish to become involved please refer to the Basketball Geelong website for information about their competitions and how to join a club.

We have some of the best facilities for a ‘casual shoot’ and players love these facilities and annually we have over 2,500 casual players shoot around at the venue. Casual shoot around sessions are only available when there are no bookings or programs scheduled on court. Cost is just $4 per person /per visit for unlimited time (availability subject to venue bookings and operational hours).

We have the ability for groups and individuals to hire courts at the venue during ‘peak’ and ‘off-peak’ times. Bookings are essential and should be made in advance. This can be done using our online booking system.


Futsal (indoor soccer)

Our centre is home to Futsal Geelong programs and competitions. We have a range of indoor futsal courts ranging from standard 30 x 15 metre courts up to full international standard courts for higher-level competitions. We also have two modified outdoor street soccer/futsal courts available, each with a synthetic all weather surface and floodlights.

The 2017-18 Futsal leagues are due to kick off in late September / early October 2017 and we aim to have something available for players of all ages and abilities:

Little Kickers Geelong:

Operate a range of fun, learning and development soccer/programs at various times/days each week during school terms for children aged from 18 months up to their 7th birthday.

Futsal Learn to Play:

For children aged 7 to 14 years, the Learn to Play Futsal program is both clinic, skills and games based learning with a greater focus on learning about what it's like to play in a Futsal team. Controlled play is the major aspect to assist into graduating to the competition level of the game and is a major component of this program.

Primary Schools League:  

Returning in 2017, this league has programs / games available for primary school teams with grade 1/2, grade 3/4 and grade 5/6 leagues and will be available each school term.

This is a great entry level point for players to get involved in this great game while learning as they go and playing with their mates from school.

Junior Leagues:

In 2017-18 we aim to have competitions available for Under 9's, 11's, 13's, 15's and 17's for Boys and U'10's, 13's & 17's for Girls.

Open Senior Leagues:

Men's Social Futsal Leagues are offered at the venue on both a Wednesday night from approx. 6:30pm.

We also have more social leagues and programs for senior men, women & mixed flagged to start early in 2018.

All-Abilities Futsal:

Returning in Term 3 2017. This program offered Saturday mornings for people with a disability aged 12 years and up. Sessions are fun, easy and all inclusive futsal. Each session includes warm up drills, skills, coaching and a game.

The Big Issue-Street Soccer Program:

Everybody is welcome at Street Soccer. It doesn't matter if you’re new to the game of a budding player. It's completely FREE, fun, friendly and you don’t have to be mega fit.

Netball

Leisuretime has two indoor netball courts, six outdoor netball courts as well as two modified outdoor netball courts with a modified synthetic turf surface, which is great for smaller sided and modified games as well as junior Net Set Go development programs.

The Corio Netball Association (affiliated with Netball Victoria) operate all the junior netball competitions at the venue on the outdoor netball courts, each Wednesday afternoon during school terms, for players of all abilities aged between 5 and 17 years.

For beginners (ages 5-7) the best starting point is Net Set Go Tier 1 program, which is a skill-based program that introduces children to the game of netball in a fun and safe environment. Game times run from approx. 4:15pm.

Tier 2 of the Net Set Go program (ages 7-10) is modified games of netball with lower rings and more relaxed rules. Game times run at 4:30pm and 5:15pm.

For all other ages (up to 17 years), the netball association run junior mixed netball games each Wednesday with game times of 4:20pm, 5:10pm, 6:00pm and 6:50pm. (Boys are eligible to play until their 13th birthday).

Squash and Racquetball

  • A Pennant Squash competition is played at the venue on Monday nights from 7:30pm and is open to players of all ages and abilities. Away games are also played at other club facilities around Geelong as part of this home and away competition with the Geelong Squash Racquets Association.   • Squash and Racquetball Development for players aged 6-17 years.
    Each session players are taught the correct techniques on serving, hitting, game etiquette and rules and regulations while also being taught the basic skills of this popular racquet sport in a fun and friendly atmosphere. All coaches are qualified and equipment is included.
    Cost: $8 per player/per week

  • We also offer an In-House Racquetball competition every Tuesday night from 7:00pm which is affiliated with Squash and Racquetball Victoria. There are various divisions available for beginners right through to the more experienced player.
    Cost: $8.50 per player/per week (weekly fee is pro-rated based on season length).

  • The Social Squash Program is open to anyone looking for a social game of squash; this is also a great pathway for those wanting to move into more serious competition. This evening is suitable for all standards with coaching and equipment also available.
    Wednesday 7:00pm - 9:30pm
    Cost: $10 per player/per week

  • Casual Hire Leisuretime Centre has eight glass backed courts available for casual hire, with a mezzanine for viewing, many tables and chairs for you to relax after your match, onsite shower/change room facilities and a fully operational cafe. You’ll see why players from all over the state love playing on these courts.
    Fees for casual squash/racquetball hire:
    $16 per court/per hour (peak periods)
    $10 per court/per hour (off-peak periods)

Volleyball

We have two indoor volleyball courts and for tournaments or volleyball events can increase to a four court venue. All courts have premium Acromat Volleyball systems and sprung hardwood timber floor.

Volleyball Geelong offer a Thursday night program open to all players. It's a social program from 6:30pm and allows players to improve their skills while also playing modified and friendly games.
