The City has voted to submit to the Planning Minister for approval an updated policy framework on the management of development in rural areas.
The amendment reflects the findings of a policy review adopted by council in December 2015 and applies only to land zoned Farming and Rural Conservation, and clarifies our position on non-agricultural use and development.
Guidance to landowners, the community and decision-makers in the consideration of planning permit applications will be provided by the updated policy framework.
During the public exhibition period for the amendment six submissions were received, five of which were objecting and one of which was subsequently withdrawn.
The submissions had been submitted for consideration to an independent panel, which ruled that the amendment was well founded and strategically justified.
As a result, the panel’s recommendations had been accepted with a minor modification.
