Potato Shed 2017 season launch promotes an eclectic season

Thursday, 8 December 2016

The 2017 Season Program is one of broad appeal exploring the contemporary and the historic: cabaret, circus, ballet, song and dramatic works. There is a focus on strong women celebrating their achievements and nonconformity.

Productions come from across Australia and include partnerships with La Mama, Gasworks Arts Park, Regional Arts Victoria, Griffin Theatre Company and Arts SA.

Exposing Edith tells the tragic story of arguably France’s greatest singer, Edith Piaf.

Torte e Mort is an innovative performance based on the story of Marie Antoinette. Shirley Valentine explores the theme of achieving your full potential.

Hannie Rayson, one of Australia’s most renowned playwrights, will share her life story in the funny and insightful Hello, Beautiful! And Finucane and Smith will delight with one of the world’s most adventurous women in The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez.

And it continues…families will adore the Roald Dahl classic, Witches, dance fans will be thrilled with Melbourne City Ballet’s stunning performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and hoarders will explore their habit in Birdcage Thursdays.

Finally, Australian music icon Mark Holden will present the History of the Holden Bros Circus, an extraordinary story which began on the Bellarine.

This eclectic season will lead us on a journey through both familiar and unchartered waters in an intimate setting…a journey that will excite, entice, amuse, educate, inspire, intrigue and challenge.
