Repairs to the Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre

Wednesday, 9 August 2017

City of Greater Geelong Director Linda Quinn:

The Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre suffered extensive flooding through the front doors during the storms in April, causing about $200,000 of damage.

Over time our sports courts started to swell with water damage and we had to close one of the courts immediately.

The City’s insurance claim was accepted and works commenced on replacing the floors several weeks ago.  The old floor was removed and the sub structure has been dried out. Laying of the new floor commenced last week and we hope to have it completed by the next school holidays.

We have worked closely with our user groups and the Bellarine Secondary College on the alternative arrangements during the down time period.
