Geelong’s floating Christmas Tree

Wednesday, 8 November 2017

We issued this media response to Channel 7 about Geelong’s floating Christmas tree.

City of Greater Geelong spokesperson:

The City’s floating Christmas tree stands at 25 metres tall.

This year, the tree has additional features:
  • New festoon lighting
  • The star lights up with LED lights
  • Between the light shows, (which are every 15 minutes), onlookers will be able to control the lights on the tree thanks to an interactive element, which can be access at the Carousel, located next to the tree on the Waterfront.
The Christmas tree costs $400,000 annually and is funded by the City of Greater Geelong, with in-kind support provided by Geelong Port.
