Geelong Saleyards

The Geelong Saleyards has reopened for the sale of sheep only. The next sheep sale will be held on Monday, 3 April 2017. Drop off times are 3 – 6pm on Sunday, 2 April and from 7.30am on Monday, 3 April.

Due to concerns over late night noise impacting local residents, sheep must be collected prior to 9.30pm on Monday, 20 March, or after 6.30am on Tuesday, 21 March.

The City has recently installed metal holding pens to act as a cattle transport hub, providing support for small-lot cattle producers in the region. Cattle can be dropped off on the Sunday before each Monday sheep sale at the Geelong Saleyards. Drop-off times are midday to 3pm. Cattle will only be accepted for holding if it is booked with an agent.

A decision on the future of the Geelong Saleyards, including the use of the site for cattle sales, is expected to be made in mid-2017, following full costing of OH&S works on the cattle yards, the development of a regional agribusiness strategy, and the completion of an independent local stock market analysis.

This website, which provides access to all available information on the saleyards, is part of our commitment to ensure transparency for our community, and to ease the uncertainty and provide support for users of the facility prior to a decision in mid-2017 about the future of the saleyards...
