We (City of Greater Geelong) are seeking your feedback on a Draft Retail Strategy for Greater Geelong.

In conjunction with SGS Economics and Planning we have prepared the City of Greater Geelong Retail Strategy 2017. The strategy has reviewed current retailing trends, land use, population growth and recommends planning policy changes. The strategy will guide retail development in Greater Geelong until 2031.

Why undertake a review

The previous retail strategy was developed in 2006. Over the past 10 years the municipality has experienced significant population growth and investment in retail centres. The population of Greater Geelong is forecast to continue to grow. Pressure to expand existing and create new retail centres is expected to increase. The development of a new Retail Strategy for Greater Geelong will provide direction on how we can manage this growth to ensure residents continue to have access to essential retail services.
