Settlement Strategy for Greater Geelong

This engagement is open

Date: Friday, 7 July 2017 to Friday, 1 September 2017

The Settlement Strategy will provide a framework to ensure council can meet the housing needs of the municipality to 2036. It will provide clear directions on where growth and development should occur and set out the principles of sustainable urban development. This will ensure development occurs in a planned, logical, integrated, efficient and cost effective way.

Six discussion papers have been prepared and provide the background data and analysis to help inform the preparation of the draft Strategy. An issues paper and summary paper have also been prepared which look at some of the key planning issues, summarise key findings in the discussion papers and pose questions for consideration. These papers along with submissions will inform the development of the draft Settlement Strategy later this year, they can all be viewed below.

Once the draft Settlement Strategy is prepared it will go out for public consultation late 2017 / early 2018 with the planning scheme amendment process to implement the final Strategy to follow.
