Belmont Island Cycling Criterium Track - naming of new pavilion

This engagement is open

Date: Saturday, 9 December 2017 to Tuesday, 9 January 2018

Council is currently considering a proposal to name the new pavilion at the Belmont Island Criterium Track located at 1 Barwon Heads Rd, Belmont. The proposed name is the Russell Mockridge Pavilion, after Edward Russell Mockridge, one of Geelong’s most successful cyclists and renowned as one of Australia’s most finest cyclists ever. Mr Mockridge became a two time gold medalist at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Mr Mockridge was tragically killed in a road cycling accident in 1958 aged 30.

In accordance with the State Government’s 'Naming Rules for Places in Victoria' 2016, Council is seeking feedback from the community regarding this proposal.

Submissions will close Tuesday 9 January, 2018.
