Youth Photography Workshop with Doug Gimesy

Join Wildlife Photographer of the Year winning conservation, wildlife and animal welfare photojournalist Doug Gimesy for a hands-on, interactive photography class.

You will develop an understanding of what to consider when creating a photo-documentary essay, and will create and compile a series of four-to-five story-telling images.

BYO camera. Maximum seven participants. For ages 15 to 18 years.


Basic understanding of:

  •  handling the camera and use of camera equipment
  • impact of shutter speed
  • impact of aperture on depth-of-field
  • impact of using different lenses and focal lengths.

Equipment required:

  • camera
  • lenses (preferably)
  • zoom lenses with a range from (at least) 20 millimetres to 100 millimetres (up to 200 millimetres if possible) Note: these focal lengths are full frame equivalent so if shooting with a cropped sensor will be different
  • macro lens
  • tripod (optional).
