Western United is turning its 19 January Hyundai A-League Round 15 clash at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium into a special day of entertainment and fundraising for bushfire disaster relief while also honouring the brave emergency services and volunteers and paying respects to those who’ve lost their lives in the recent bushfires.
On Sunday, 19 January, the entire community of Geelong and western Melbourne will have a chance to pay tribute to the heroics of those who have fought the devastating bushfires that have wreaked havoc in Victoria and NSW while helping to raise funds for those affected by this tragedy.
It will be a day when A-League football and the community come together to help those in need.
In return, fans will have the chance to see Western United play for free in an A-League match with a host of family-friendly fun and kids’ activities throughout the day.
The opponents on this special day are Central Coast Mariners, an A-League team located in an area of NSW also hit hard by both fire disasters.
The club recently turned one of their home games into a special event for their brave women and men from the NSW Rural Fire Service, so it’s fitting that both sides are playing each other on this special day.
The club will make a donation on behalf of every member who attends on the day.
