Grovedale Neighbourhood House Steering Group

The Grovedale Neighbourhood House Steering Group will have a say in the programs and services that are run from the Grovedale Neighbourhood House and act with due care and with the best interests of the neighbourhood house and the community.

The Grovedale Neighbourhood House is a member of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria, the state peak body for neighbourhood houses, as well as the Neighbourhood Houses Barwon, an organisation that provides a central point of contact, representation, and support for neighbourhood houses across the Barwon region.

City of Greater Geelong reports on program funding and activities and will consult with the Grovedale Neighbourhood House Steering Group as they prepare this work.

The Grovedale Neighbourhood House Steering Group will be comprised of volunteer community members who will provide input and strategic advice to the City of Greater Geelong on the stewardship and operations of the Grovedale Neighbourhood House.

The Grovedale Neighbourhood House Steering Group will be a non-binding committee that will provide the City of Greater Geelong with advice that is responsive to community need and is designed to influence the services and programs of Grovedale Neighbourhood House with respect to this need.

The key stakeholders of the Grovedale Neighbourhood House with which the Steering Group would work are the City of Greater Geelong, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, and Grovedale Neighbourhood House staff, volunteers, and group facilitators.

The Steering Group will be responsible for representing the community and acting in accordance with the sector principles of community ownership, community participations, empowerment, access and equity, lifelong learning, inclusion, networking, advocacy, and social action.

The Steering Group will meet every second month (in person or online depending on COVID-19 restrictions). The Steering Group members must be available to volunteer 4 to 6 hours per month to the role.

The Steering Group membership is a 12-month term. Steering Group members may be required to attend additional meetings from time to time.
