We issued the following statement in response to a series of questions from the Geelong Advertiser about a helipad planned for Leopold.
Kelvin Walsh - Director Planning and Development:
The City has received 15 objections to the construction of a helipad off Mathews Road in Leopold.
The objections relate to the helipad being inappropriate for the area, which includes the RAMSAR listed Lake Connewarre; noise and lights at night that will impact the rural amenity; impacts on livestock from helicopter noise; impacts on birdlife; and concern that there will be more helicopter movements than what is proposed.
Objections will be considered as part of the planning assessment process.
