The National Apology delivered by the Australian Government on 13 February 2008, is a significant event in Australia’s history and provides an opportunity to plan and support further understanding and positive relationships with the Aboriginal community.
The reconciliation journey requires mutual respect, goodwill and understanding.
The City acknowledges the importance of the apology. The National apology also forms part of Council’s Karreenga Aboriginal Action Plan 2014 – 2017. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag will be flown together at City Hall during the week to mark this occasion.
