New interactive map for Lara transport projects

Friday, 22 May 2020

The progress of transport projects in Lara can now be tracked on an interactive map.

Completed, current and upcoming works are plotted on a new website dedicated to the Lara Traffic Management Plan 2019-29.

The plan was adopted by Council in March following extensive community engagement, which raised concerns about traffic safety and access on local roads.

Residents can now use the interactive map to find updates about projects important to them.

As part of the 10-year plan, 179 actions were developed.

Some of these actions include:

  • Speed limit changes on McClelland Avenue and Heales Road
  • Traffic lights installation at the intersection of Broderick Road and Heales Road
  • Traffic island installation at Little River-Ripley Road and Kirks Bridge Road
  • Road condition warning signs at Alfred Street and Fisher Street
  • Review of heavy vehicle routes, with a view to reducing truck movements on local roads
  • Relocation of flood gates and signage on Windermere Road.

Further upgrades at McClelland Avenue, including the installation of turning lanes, are underway.

We understand Lara residents want to be kept informed about works in their community.
This new resource allows anyone to jump online to see how a project is progressing.
As you’ll see on the map, there are many actions in the pipeline as part of the Lara Traffic Management Plan 2019-29.
I thank my fellow Lara residents for their ongoing feedback and support of these projects as we continue to work together to improve traffic conditions in the area.

As locals and regular road-users in Lara would know, we’re already seeing important works being carried out as part of this 10-year plan.
We’ve listened to the community and I’m pleased to see the Lara Traffic Management Plan 2019-29 in action.
While construction works are underway, we ask for your patience as some traffic conditions will change.
