Our Future

Joey says:

"My vision is connected transport options including walking, cycling, drive and park, bus, rail with connections to boat or planes. A expansion of the CBD from waterfront to the mighty Barwon River. Move manufacturing from near residential and closer to major highways/roads. Promotion as the healthy city formed around the bay, gateway to great surf, holidays and nature, great cycling and no need for a car. Seamlessly connected to Melbourne, Ballarat and other employment areas. "

Liam says:

"I want the Geelong Council To Actually Do something for once and not just sit there doing nothing. You should not need to ask the people of Geelong what needs to be done. "

Kris says:

"A focus on the Bellarine, Surf Coast and regional produce instead of generic international companies is essential. Building a Geelong identity instead of a small-town America feel. Tear down Westfield and return to Geelong owned retail. "

"A vibrant, creative city alive with art, food and culture, with one of the world's most beautiful vistas. San Francisco meets Detroit meets Amsterdam - an innovative city, a bike city, a diverse city, an internationally-renowned city, a city that cares for its residents, a green city, a city where everyone is welcome. A city where you can live, work and play, and be inspired. "

"Frequent Affordable across bay ferries to Melbourne CBD. I would close public transport system. I revitalized CBD with adequate, affordability parking (Waurn Ponds, sadly is Geelong's new CBD)"

"We did not have a choice of becoming City of Greater Geelong. We had a great shire and were well looped after. We are now a neglected suburb who only gets mentioned when elections happen and even then promises are not kept. There are hard working people who live here and deserve equality. We pay taxes and rates and own homes too. We need a hospital not another medical clinic. We are inundated with them I used to love my city/ town Geelong with its beautiful old building and heritage. Now I hate coming into it. So sad a town"

"The leading regional city for sustainability and bio technology with the best bike network in Australia. A world class tourist destination with unique points of interest and a flourishing creative industry. A university town attracting the brightest minds."

"Better connected bike paths to new areas such as Armstrong creek. Realisation of the Armstrong creek developments with schools and community services. Light rail public transport to costal communities, less cars, more employment options for our children in the technology industries, more cbd living and better use of the waterfront."

Rod Thomas says:

"A vibrant city, attracting new individuals and businesses that develop and implement new ideas. A city that is providing leadership on environmental projects and that is well connected by walking, cycling and public transport. A city that utilises technology to its full potential and has a culture that explores ideas, taking advantage of its Tafe and University sectors."

21/11/2016
David says:

"A green, attractive city with a positive outlook, where 75% of people get around by active or public transport for 75% of the time, where there are diverse employers across all sectors spread across the municipality, where there are quality formal and informal educational opportunities for everyone, and where creativity and innovation is encouraged and practiced."

24/11/2016
Tony says:

"We'll be living local - close to shops, education and entertainment that's lively and creative. Huge improvements to public transport, cycling and walking - you'll be able to walk, ride anywhere around Geelong because it's fun, safe and completely comfortable. Cars will be used much less. Streets to become parks. Sustainability will be the new normal - energy and transport more humble, powered by renewable. Lifestyle, work opportunities, community wellbeing will be off the charts"

22/11/2016
Joshua says:

"A climate resiliant, economically prosperous, socially inclusive and walkable city that is vibrant with native flora along all roads and on roofs alongside solar panels. Expressions of local creativity are celebrated, publically visible, and encouraged with emphasis on including at risk youth. Efficient public transport dominates the roads with less need for personal vehicles and old parking lots replaced with recreational green spaces. Residents of Geelong are now proud of their home."

27/10/2016
Dave says:

"Promote the location better to bring out its' beauty and sense of place. Promote startup culture with conferences, start up grants, and links to University. The internet communications technology industry could provide good jobs. Build high bandwidth infrastructure to attract investment and a digital culture. Make it accessible for all greater Geelong residents to kickstart this culture. "
