Council provides a low interest loan scheme to assist property owners undertake appropriate conservation works to their heritage building.
Loan applications must comply with the eligibility criteria which is set out in the criteria guidelines available from Council.
Eligibility for Heritage Geelong loans is limited to buildings, places or structures that are:
- Located in areas subject to Urban Conservation Studies (such as Bellarine, Geelong, Geelong West, Newtown and Greater Geelong Outer Areas Heritage Study).
- Recognised to have heritage value to the community.
Financial assistance is available in the form of low interest loans, the fund revolves as loans are repaid, so that as much benefit as possible can be offered to participants.
The time allowed for the repayment of loans ranges from one to four years.
