When donating may be dumping

Clothing bins help divert huge amounts of material from landfill.  Make sure you use these bins correctly.

According to some charities only about 10 per cent of the clothing donated is good enough to be re-sold. Clothes that cannot be worn or sold are recycled into commercial rags or carpet underlay.

Before donating, check what items are accepted. And remember items need to be good quality, clean, wearable clothing. Clothing bins are not an opportunity to dump rubbish.

If the bin is full don’t leave your goods beside the bin, return at a later date.

If you see items dumped at these bins, please let the owners of the bins know. Each bin should have a contact phone number on it.
