The City of Greater Geelong has awarded Barwon Health the tender to deliver its immunisation program for the next three to five years.

At Tuesday night’s council meeting, Administrators approved the contract for a fixed lump sum of $2.7 million for the full five-year contract.

The costs had been benchmarked against two other councils and proved comparable.

We measured our costs against two other councils with similar 0-18-year-old populations - one delivering in-house services and one contracting out, both of these councils had comparable costs per encounter.

Barwon Health has been delivering our immunisation service for many years now and we’re really happy with the work they are doing.

Immunisations are one of the most important health services we provide our community.  They are vital in protecting our community from preventable diseases.

The City receives Federal Government funding of $6 per infant encounter and State Government funding of $8.50 per infant and secondary school student encounter for its immunisation program.
