New approach to our community places and spaces

Social infrastructure is the fabric of our community. They are the places and spaces that bring community together. Where friendships are made and where we can access important services. For many of us, they are our second home.

On 30 July 2019, the Council released a new draft policy aimed at ensuring our future investment in community infrastructure and services and our decision making is clear, fair, equitable and based on evidence and insights from our community.

With our population growing quickly, there's never been more demand for these vital community assets. This makes it so important that we focus our efforts where we can deliver the best outcomes.

We have listened and heard your insights. As part of developing this policy, in 2018 we asked people for their thoughts on what they would like to see from Council when making future investment decisions. We received 1,064 responses from residents and community groups and held over 25 community workshops and meetings. This information has informed the new draft Social Infrastructure Policy.
Once again we would like to hear from you. What do you think of the draft policy? Do you think it could help ensure our decision making is fair for everyone?

Please read the draft policy attached and have your say in the comment box below.
